Having retained all its youthful acidity because there was no malolactic fermentation, the Champagne is brilliantly lit. Acidity and a light texture from the Pinot Noir in the blend give the wine a crisp edge with still-young citrus. Drink the wine from 2024.

Glorious ripeness on the nose, expressed as ripe quince with an aromatic note of Kirsch, candied cherry and shortcrust, immediately sets the tone, promising richness. In true Gosset fashion, that richness is present in aromatics since the palate remains absolutely taut, fine and lacy. Poise and elegance are foremost, vivid freshness is constantly renewed with every tiny, bursting, creamy bubble. A feat to pack so much expression into such slenderness. Gorgeous.

Gosset Grand Millésime 2015 is a powerful, finely chiselled and wonderfully ageworthy Champagne that captures the house’s signature tension and purity while showcasing the generosity of the warm, beautifully balanced twenty fifteen vintage. As the oldest wine house in Champagne, Gosset has always stayed true to its uncompromising style: no malolactic fermentation, long lees ageing, and a strong reliance on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from premier and grand cru villages. In a year that delivered ripe fruit, perfect phenolic maturity and excellent natural acidity, this approach produced a Millésime of remarkable depth, precision and longevity.

The blend typically leans toward Pinot Noir for shape, structure and intensity, with Chardonnay bringing citrus lift, drive and mineral cut. Fermentation in stainless steel protects clarity, and the wine then rests for years on lees, developing its fine mousse, savoury complexity and biscuity nuance. Because malolactic is avoided, the acidity remains bright and crystalline, giving the wine its razor focus and exceptional cellar potential.

The aromatics are detailed and expansive. Lemon curd, mandarin peel and white peach mingle with pear, apple tart and hints of apricot. With time in the glass, deeper layers emerge: brioche, toasted hazelnut, almond cream, chalk, white flowers and subtle spice. A faint smoky mineral note, so characteristic of Gosset’s best vintages, weaves through the bouquet.

On the palate the wine is vibrant, taut and beautifully structured. A core of citrus and orchard fruit drives the opening, followed by stone fruit richness and a savoury, lees derived complexity. Flavours of lemon zest, peach skin, red apple, pastry, roasted nuts and crushed stone unfold across a fine, persistent bead. The acidity is pure and energetic, giving the wine tremendous focus and length. The finish is long, dry and elegantly powerful, echoing citrus, chalk and fine brioche. With a decade or more in the cellar, it will develop deeper honeyed, toasty and nutty character while maintaining its sculpted frame.

An outstanding partner for lobster, scallops, sashimi, roast chicken, truffle dishes, creamy mushroom pastas, aged Comté, fried chicken or simply as a quiet moment of luxury on its own.
