This wine is a pale straw colour in the glass. Opens with lifted notes of ginger spice, grapefruit, fresh jonathon apple with tropical guava fruit and fuijoa. A generous palate packed with a cornucopia of riper tropical fruits, some underlying chalky minerality draws it all out finishing with lingering ripe lemon citrus. It will keep improving over next 10 years.
Halliday says:
‘From the Lodge Hill Vineyard; a small parcel of high quality fruit was left on the vine for a further week, the juice cold-settled, but not filtered, 10% barrel-fermented in used French oak, all held on lees for 6 weeks. Cruises along on the supple palate until the finish, when it grows another leg. Has time to grow a fourth leg.’
