Corks have popped out a little over storage
The 2015 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Trocken is the Grosses Gewächs of the domaine and opens with a great purity, deepness and finesse, with mineral and flinty flavors intertwined with discreet citrus flavors. On the palate, the GG shows a great elegance, vitality and finesse. It is a powerful and salty wine with a firm mineral backbone, great purity and a firm structure. Lots of salt and grip here, but also a mouthwatering stimulation.

The vineyard of Kiedrich Gräfenberg (literally, the 'Hill of the Counts') has been used to designate Robert Weil's finest wines since the site was classified as Weinlage 1 Klasse in 1867.
Home to Weil's oldest vines - up to eighty years of age with the majority on their own rootstock - it makes perfect sense that Weil's single Grosse Gewächs derives from this legendary site. Wilhelm Weil's aim has been to produce a wine in a similar style to the full bodied dry wines produced in the Rheingau a century ago (when the region's finest Rieslings were the most expensive wines in the world).
Despite the high quality of the Turmberg and Klosterberg, this is clearly on another level. It's the most intense, deep, powerful and complex Riesling from the Estate, and perhaps from the Rheingau full stop. It's raised on lees and 80% is matured in large, neutral oak Doppelstu?ckfass (large casks) and in spite of its unimaginable power, it displays stunning clarity and eye-of-the-needle precision. Incredibly long and crystalline finish. Really tightly wound, this will live for decades in a temperature controlled cellar.
