2015 Schwarz Wine Co Schiller Shiraz, Barossa Valley, a very Barossa kind of Shiraz, yet with an European edge to it. Ripe cherry, satsuma plum with dark chocolate, black olive and a spiced oak element. It is not shy, but its kind of elegant at the same time. I didn't want to like it as much as I did. Lamb chops, with duck fat roasted spuds
The fruit sourced for this wine comes from the sixth-generation Schiller Family vineyard at Hallett Valley in the Barossa. The 400 Shiraz vines planted by Carl August Otto Schiller in 1881 are something to be treasured.
Shiller’s dark cherry and plum are fantastic entry aromatics complemented by distinctive scents of clove, mace and allspice. Fruit characteristic turns into red cherry and cola, but the fruit cake spice melody is what makes this wine charismatic. Cocoa like bitterness and fine supple tannin make for an amazing length of flavour. A perfect wine to build a cellar around.

Made from a mere 400 vines, planted in 1881. It's a hearty, deep-set, seductive wine with freshness kept paramount. It slinks along the tongue in satiny fashion, runs with the flavours of redcurrant, blackberry, coal and caramel, and trails impressively out through an extended finish. Barossa shiraz in all its glory. Straps of flavour-drenched tannin will help ensure a very long future.
