95 points Bob Campbell The Real Review
Crisp, dry Pinot Gris with pear, quince, stewed apple and cloves plus a suggestion of yeasty brioche. Seamless wine with a pleasantly grainy texture. Sophisticated Pinot Gris with moderate intensity.

WINEMAKER’S COMMENT:
Intense freshly sliced white pear, with baking spices such as cinnamon and
clove dominate the aromatics on this Seddon Pinot Gris. On the palate, fresh
stone fruits intermingle with savoury almond and vanilla pod flavours. This
richly textured single vineyard wine has a delicate acidity, with a luscious and
weighty finish.
VINEYARD & WINEMAKING:
This single vineyard site in the Awatere Valley is sheltered from the cooling
southern weather patterns, resulting in a very warm mesoclimate. The loam
soils have a distinctive soft clay “papa-rock” base allowing gapes to easily
achieve physiological ripeness and fruit concentration in a cool climate region.
In 2014, Marlborough had a warmer than usual spring, followed by a
temperate summer, and a cool autumn.
Enjoy with fragrant Asian cuisine or slow roasted pork belly.
Or serve lightly chilled as an aperitif.
