Le Meix Cadot is the largest of Rully’s 1er Crus and sits on a mini plateau east of the village. Dureuil-Janthial controls 1.71-hectares (planted in 1980) in a very chalky part of the vineyard, perfect for Chardonnay.
This area is enclosed by walls (i.e. it’s a ‘clos’). Again, the soils are clay-limestone and are worked organically. This is wonderful and in keeping with all of this producer’s whites from 2015 (incisive and mineral is the theme!) This has more flesh than the Rully villages, but it remains earthy, rocky and chalky. With some time in bottle it will blossom but it is already a fabulous value white Burgundy.
