Trophy Best White Wine of Show 2018 AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge

Vintage 2016 was simply spectacular in Tasmania. Ideal growing conditions provided the perfect platform to grow fruit that was of excellent quality, with perfect balance between flavour and physiological ripeness.
This limited release Tasmanian Chardonnay shows complex lemon, grapefruit, almond, oatmeal and spicy French oak flavours balanced by crisp, bright acidity. With excellent length and intensity this wine can be enjoyed now and will also reward careful cellaring.Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented in French oak (21% new), matured for 9.5 months. Distinctly greater weight and complexity, yet a little more French oak, a few more days in oak and 0.3% more alcohol have had a seemingly disproportionate effect, whereas its vintage sibling is effortless and will be ready to drink when released in May/June ‘18.

Medium to light colour, the aroma fresh and clean, cashew and white peach; lemon and grapefruit in the mouth. A wine of great delicacy and refinement, length and crisp follow-through. Superb - a key feature is its lemony fruit purity. It will blossom with further age.16 JAN 2018 Drink 2019–2028
