2017 Charles Melton Nine Popes GSM, Barossa Valley

A little toasty flint opening. Quietly sweet, not exuberant but with a real density of aromatic. A hint of anise or licorice. A generous, but fine, sweetly  structured and flavour attack into the mouth. The sweet fruit floods across your tongue but is interlaced with herbs and spices..

The 2017 underwent malolactic fermentation in a mix of old and new oak, where it remained for 18 months. The wine was then transferred to new French oak for a further twelve months prior to natural settling and bottling.
