2016 Domaine Jean-Marc Bouley Pommard, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy

From father to son through numerous generations, the Bouley family has cultivated vineyards in Volnay. In the last century, from 1919, François Bouley manages the family estate. Christian succeeded him in 1948. Jean-Marc created his own Domain in 1974, to which his father’s vineyards were added in 1984. In 2002, Thomas joined the Domain and took over the management in 2012. 
His main objective is to make Bouley one of the great Domains in Volnay.

Reduction. On the plus side there is terrific cut and punch to the bigger and more powerful if somewhat less refined flavors that are wonderfully refreshing while also offering very good length on the more complex, firmer and youthfully austere finish. Recommended if you have at least some patience.
