Savoury and structured blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec
Blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot and malbec. Enter its world. There's a grandness to this red that is apparent from the first sip. It has both intensity and breadth, but then it also has volume and length. Drinking it is like diving into the ocean. It tastes of cassis, dark chocolate, peppermint, violets and lightly browned toast. Tannin rolls towards the finish from a long way out; it crashes through the finish in sets. You can drink it now; there's so much action to be tucked into. But wow this has a future.

The full-throttle 2016 the Satyr Reserve, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Malbec, is a seriously concentrated, robust and densely structured wine. It boasts decadent layers of liquorice, ink and blueberry aromas topped by a dusting of dried herbs all wrapped in a straight jacket of sweet oak. Despite its age, the tannins are still youthful and firm, although well matched to wells of dark fruit flavour which propel a long strong finish. This is a wine that desperately needs time to show its best.

Mid-brick red in the glass, showing well for nine years old. Aromas of mulchy earth, dried herbs, plum, blackberry and bramble. Firm, structured and mouth-filling, with a decent lick of tannin, earthy, gravelly fruit and spice. Fruit is still evident, but the tannins are winning. Drink to 2032.

A decade in bottle has settled this Cabernet-led blend into a savoury, structured red approaching its drinking peak. Cassis and dark chocolate remain at the core, joined by dried herbs, bramble and an earthy, mineral undertone, with firm tannins still carrying real length.
Pour with something equally savour: a well-aged cheddar, or a braised ox cheek with root vegetables, both matching the wine’s developed, earthy layers.
