Our Block wines are made from small, carefully selected parcels of the best old vine fruit from the Forest Hill Property including the original 1965 vines. Cane pruned and hand harvested, these special blocks are very low yielding due to age and relying only on natural rainfall. If the vintage proves to be challenging for a variety, we will not make a Block wine that season. The Block wines are powerful yet refined and elegant, and will reward cellaring.
Forest Hill is a 5* Halliday winery
A wine with a pedigree equalled by few others, stretching back to '65, the oldest cool climate vines in WA. Hand-picked and sorted then whole bunch-pressed, the free-run juice kept separate for this wine, a long, cool ferment with a Champagne yeast followed. Quartz-white; the bouquet is subdued, making you unprepared for the explosive intensity and length of the brilliantly detailed palate, with all its future flavours shimmering translucently in the backdrop.
