From a vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, the 2016 Churton Vineyard Pinot Noir features discrete touches of green herbs on the nose. Those are balanced by cherry and plum fruit in this medium-bodied silky-textured wine. It does firm up on the licorice-tinged finish, showing some drying tannins, so give it another year or two of aging to mellow out.
