Mitchell has really stepped up to the plate of contemporary taste over recent years, making poised Rieslings with less shrill acidity than in the past; greater depth and poise and yet, still with the tensile line of limey flavour and febrility that has always marked the region and the house style. Attesting to these changes is the six months of lees handling, following an ambient fermentation. The result is a light to mid-weighted wine, strutting across the palate with flavours of citrus rind, quince, green apple, curd and a finish dusted with pumice and driven by a pungent mineral crunch.
