Poderi Colla Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose reveals cherry, rose and spice with refined tannins and renowned cru character.
Classic Nebbiolo aromas of woodland berry, forest floor, new leather and a whiff of rose lift out of the glass along with a whiff of botanical herb. Delivering elegance and structure in equal measure, the linear palate features red cherry, strawberry compote, baking spice and licorice framed in firm, polished tannins. Bright acidity keeps it well balanced. Drink 2024–2036.

A historic Piemontese winemaking family, the Colla clan owns four estates in the Langhe. The great Beppe Colla acquired the Dardi le Rose property in Bussia in the early 1960s, recognising it as a superior Barolo site. Here, over 6ha of Nebbiolo are planted on the steep slope rich in calcareous marls. The 2016 is restrained, taut and slightly austere at the moment but exceptionally enduring and not lacking in grace. With a sinewy palate and firm, chalky tannins, there is ample fragrance and flavour to back this up. Raspberry, strawberry, cinnamon and cedar lead to a tangy pomegranate and sour cherry finish. Traditionally crafted and clean, with heaps of soul and intrigue.

The 2016 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is a wine of total finesse. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint and spice give the 2016 captivating inner perfume to match its translucent, mid-weight personality. Pliant, exquisitely layered and so incredibly inviting, the 2016 is going to be tempting early. It is a fabulous wine in every way.

Bussia Dardi Le Rose is one of the great vineyard expressions from Poderi Colla, a family estate whose roots in Piedmont stretch back to the pioneering work of Beppe Colla. Today the Colla family continues to champion traditional Barolo, producing wines that capture the character of the Langhe's finest crus with remarkable purity, elegance and longevity.
The Dardi Le Rose vineyard lies within the renowned Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba, where limestone rich marl soils and mature Nebbiolo vines consistently produce Barolo of exceptional perfume, structure and ageing potential. The superb 2016 vintage ranks among the finest of recent decades, combining concentration with extraordinary balance and finesse.
The colour is a brilliant garnet red with youthful ruby reflections. Fragrant aromas of rose petals, red cherry and wild strawberry mingle with orange peel, liquorice, tar and sweet spice. The palate is beautifully proportioned, carrying vibrant red fruits through finely woven tannins and bright natural acidity. Savoury notes of dried herbs, truffle and crushed stone emerge across a long, seamless finish that reflects the pedigree of this celebrated vineyard.
A magnificent companion to white truffle risotto, braised beef cheeks, roast duck, venison or porcini mushroom pappardelle. While already captivating with a generous decant, this outstanding Barolo will continue to reward patient cellaring well into the 2040s.
