This is a refined, full-bodied red with dried leaves, tobacco and smoked-meat notes. Intense, fine tannins. Concentrated flavor of dried cherries and citrus peel accompany the earthy character. Drink after 2024.

The 2016 Il Poggiolo Rodolfo Cosimi Brunello di Montalcino Terra Rossa pulls you close to the glass, intriguing the senses with a display of black cherries encased in an air of crushed stone minerality and exotic spice, as a hint of mint leaf adds freshness. It’s silky and pliant upon entry, yet it gives way to a dense core of dark fruits, complemented by notes of orange peel and sweet herbs. Fine grain tannins make themselves known on the finish, which is youthfully dry yet still quite energetic. I expect the Terra Rossa to have a long life ahead of it, and that it will give a lot of pleasure throughout.
