Established in 1998 by Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling, both Geisenheim University Viticulture and Oenology graduates from Germany, Schubert has 14ha of vines in and near to Martinborough, closely planted in the traditional European style. Sourced from their vineyard in Wairarapa, the Block B Pinot Noir is a selection of the Dijon Pinot Noir clones, with hand-picked grapes 100% destemmed and left on skins for three weeks during fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is aged in 45% new French oak barriques for 18 months.
