2016 Three Dark Horses Grenache Touriga, McLaren Vale

I have often been asked about sweet red wine, mostly from travellers to Eastern Europe and this is the first time I’ve experienced a gorgeous Australian example. Brooding aromas of dark plum, cherry and rhubarb set up a full-bodied palate of similar flavours plus a whole chunk of bitter chocolate, raisin and cherry ripe! Without oak, fining or filtration it is untamed and utterly delicious. We enjoyed it slightly chilled with a spicy sausage salad. Karen McKalister-Hohnen
