Light straw-yellow colour. The bouquet is straw-like, dried herbs and dried flowers, with a little toast starting up already. The taste is soft and less-dry than the other KT rieslings, but certainly not sweet enough to be classed as a half-dry or off-dry style. Lovely drinking. 13 OCT 2017
Wines by KT are small, lovingly cared for parcels of fruit that have traditional techniques used in their creation. I’m passionate about the township of Watervale 5452 and am working with dry grown, sustainably farmed vineyards in the area. With gentle care from grapegrower to winemaker, working with both organic and biodynamic principles, it’s my intention to produce wines with drinkability and personality.
Named after my Grandma, Melva is my wild fermented Riesling and is inspired by the exotic off dry wine styles of the world. With aromatic floral spice of blossom and quince, the palate is slippery and luscious.
Created from the Peglidis vineyard, the hand picked fruit is handled oxidatively in the winery and is fermented 100% with indigenous yeast in thirteen year old French oak barriques and left to sit on lees in oak for 3 months with regular stirring.
Sealed with a screwcap to ensure integrity of product, you can be confident that this wine will continue to reward you with careful cellaring.
