Judges tasting notes: This is a compelling Chardonnay with grapefruit and a hint of struck match on the nose. In the mouth tropical, orchard and citrus fruits sit alongside some posh oak. Line and length, restraint and underlying power. All up, very impressive.
Pale straw in colour with a hint of green. Concentrated aromas include nectarine and peach intermingled with pineapple, cream, hazelnut and subtle spice. The palate is a long, intense expression of the aromas anchored by balanced oak and a creamy complexity from malolactic fermentation and nine months maturation in the finest French Oak. Partial use of wild yeast followed by lees stirring further enhances the sophistication and length of palate.
