Chateau Bellefont-Belcier dates back to the seventeenth century and was officially founded by Count Louis Francois de Belcier in the middle of eighteenth century. The first part of the name if derived from many natural sptings and fountains on the estate. Over the centuties the Chateau changed hands numerous times. It has a distinction of being the Bordeaux classified gowth to be purchased by a Chinese citizen when in 2012 it was sold to a group of Chinese investers.
Today it is owned by Wang Songwei family who, it is rumoured' paid 2 million Euros per hectare, a record for a Grand Cru Classe' at the time.
 
 
The vineyards of Bellefont-Belcier are planted to 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.The wine of Bellefont-Belcier is made in a traditional way, in long, cement vats that are arranged in a unique, circular pattern. Malolactic fermentation and maturation takes place in French oak (80% new), barrels where the wine is aged for between 18 and 24 months.

2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2005 and 2000.
 
 
Chateau Bellefont-Belcier is usually best drunk in the first 10-20 years after the vintage with all classsic meat dishes or with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms and pasta as well as cheese

Very focused and compacted, showcasing extremely polished and firm tannins. Medium-to full-bodied and finely glossy and precise. Dark fruits, wet earth and an intense finish. Excellent length.

2017 Chateau Bellefont-Belcier is made from 75% Merlot , 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the alcohol reached 15% with no sensation of heat.
