A full wine, this comes from an estate at the top of its form. The balance between tannins and blackberry fruits is just right, offering density and richness. The wine will be ready from 2024.

This shows fantastic depth and fruit quality for the vintage with crushed currants, raspberries and flowers to the medium to full body, round and ripe tannins and flavorful finish. Good tension and poise. Drink after 2022.

One of the historic names of the Margaux appellation, Château Kirwan has been producing distinguished Bordeaux since the 18th century and proudly holds Third Growth status in the 1855 Classification. Owned by the Schÿler family for more than a century, the estate has built a reputation for wines that capture the hallmark perfume, elegance and finesse that make Margaux one of Bordeaux's most celebrated communes.

The 2017 vintage rewarded meticulous vineyard management, producing wines of freshness, precision and classical balance. The estate's deep gravel soils delivered beautifully expressive Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while careful élevage in French oak has created a wine of refinement, structure and impressive ageing potential.

Deep garnet with youthful ruby highlights, the bouquet opens with aromas of cassis, black cherry and wild blackberry layered with violets, cedar and graphite. As the wine evolves, notes of cigar box, tobacco leaf, pencil shavings and subtle spice emerge, adding complexity and unmistakable Margaux character. The palate is beautifully poised, combining concentrated black fruits with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a finely woven mineral thread. Elegant yet quietly powerful, the finish lingers with floral perfume, savoury spice and refined persistence.

A superb companion for roast lamb, duck breast, Chateaubriand, venison loin or mature hard cheeses. Already immensely enjoyable with a generous decant, this classic Margaux has the balance and pedigree to reward further cellaring.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2042.
