A bright and vivid red with dark-berry and plum character. Floral and bright. Medium to full body. Intense and crystal-clear. Ultra-fine tannins with a long and beautiful. Wonderful balance and harmony.

95-96 points James Suckling

The 2017 Troplong Mondot is easily one of the wines of the vintage. New CEO Aymeric de Gironde (formerly of Cos d’Estournel) and consulting oenologist Thomas Duclos are masterminding a remarkable new chapter in the life of Troplong Mondot. A major stylistic shift in the direction of freshness and energy has resulted in a positively stunning Troplong Mondot endowed with tremendous depth and vibrant. A rush of black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and spice builds as this gorgeous Saint-Émilion shows off its breeding and total class. The blend is 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc

95-98 points Antonio Galloni Vinous

Troplong Mondot saw hardly any frost—less than 10%. The 2017 Troplong Mondot is blended of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Very deep purple-black in color, it offers up a cedar chest, cinnamon stick and cloves-laced nose with a core of crème de cassis, blackberry compote and preserved plums plus wafts of licorice, violets and sandalwood. Full-bodied, concentrated and sporting a firm frame of velvety tannins, it has a lively line lifting the densely packed fruit, finishing long and on a compelling savory note.

95-97 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW for The Wine Advocate

Rising above the limestone plateau of Saint Émilion, Château Troplong Mondot is one of Bordeaux's most celebrated Premier Grand Cru Classé estates. Dating back to the 18th century, the château occupies one of the highest points in the appellation, where its exceptional limestone and clay terroir consistently produces wines of remarkable depth, elegance and longevity. Today, Troplong Mondot is admired for uniting richness with precision in one of the Right Bank's great wines.

The 2017 vintage rewarded meticulous vineyard management, producing fruit of outstanding freshness, purity and balance. The estate's elevated vineyards delivered beautifully concentrated Merlot and Cabernet Franc, while careful élevage shaped a wine that reflects both the grandeur of the site and the finesse of the vintage.

Deep garnet with youthful ruby highlights, the bouquet reveals black cherry, plum and blackberry layered with violets, graphite and fine cedar. As the wine unfolds, notes of truffle, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate and subtle spice emerge, adding complexity and unmistakable Saint Émilion character. The palate is rich yet beautifully poised, combining concentrated dark fruits with velvety tannins, lively acidity and a finely etched limestone backbone. Long, seamless and elegant, the finish lingers with savoury complexity, floral perfume and exceptional persistence.

Magnificent with beef Wellington, roast duck, herb crusted lamb, venison loin or black truffle dishes. Already captivating with extended decanting, this outstanding Saint Émilion has the pedigree and balance to reward patient collectors for decades.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2050.
