This wine is dense, with concentrated spice plus rich white and kiwi fruits. Acidity is prominent, giving the wine impressive fruitiness and aging potential as suggested by the texture and wood flavors. Drink this beautifully ripe wine from 2022.

96 points Roger Voss for Wine Enthusiast

Lots of blueberry, hot-stone, slate and walnut aromas. Terracotta, too. Iodine. Full-bodied, round and dense with layers of fine tannins. Lovely depth and intensity. Extremely long and focused. Needs three or four years of bottle age just to start. Try after 2024.

96 points James Suckling

Hidden within a forest on the southern edge of Bordeaux, Domaine de Chevalier has earned a place among the greatest estates of Pessac Léognan. Classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves, the domaine has remained in the Bernard family since 1983 and is celebrated for producing wines of exceptional elegance, balance and longevity. Its deep gravel soils and meticulous vineyard management have made Domaine de Chevalier a benchmark for refined Left Bank Bordeaux.

The 2017 vintage rewarded meticulous vineyard management, producing fruit of outstanding freshness, purity and precision. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot ripened beautifully on the estate's gravelly soils, while careful élevage preserved the wine's harmony and unmistakable regional character.

Deep garnet with youthful ruby highlights, the bouquet unfolds with aromas of cassis, blackberry and black cherry layered with cedar, graphite and the subtle smoky notes that define great Pessac Léognan. As the wine evolves, notes of violets, cigar box, truffle and fine spice emerge, adding remarkable complexity. The palate is beautifully composed, combining concentrated black fruits with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a finely etched mineral backbone. Long, graceful and effortlessly balanced, the finish lingers with savoury spice, smoky minerality and refined elegance.

A magnificent companion for Chateaubriand, roast lamb, venison, duck with black truffle or mature Comté. Already superb with extended decanting, this distinguished Bordeaux has the pedigree and balance to reward collectors for decades.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2050.
