A 47/32/21% blend drawn from old vineyards in a number of districts, Krondorf the one constant, fermented with submerged cap (header boards), matured in French hogsheads (10% new). As is appropriate, complex, but largely fruit-driven, with red cherries/berries and plums to the fore, oak and (particularly) tannins taking a back seat.
A 51/32/17% blend, the components sourced from various districts that produce high quality fruit. Standard vinification, then matured for 15 months with 10% new French hogsheads, the remainder 3-6yo barrels. It's a powerful wine in the context of '17, old vines doing what they have done for the last 50+ years. Needs a few more years to relax.
