The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Crais has a slightly smudged bouquet that needs to muster a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fleshy red fruit but lacks a bit of bite and tension on the finish. For early drinking.

This is also quite floral in character with relatively cool aromas of red and dark berry liqueur, spice and earth. There is lovely verve to the succulent, even seductively textured flavors thanks mainly to the relatively fine grain of the tannins shaping the moderately firm, balanced and solidly persistent finale where a light minerality slowly emerges. This precise effort is a quality Gevrey villages.
