The 2018 Mercurey Village offers red currant and raspberry fruit, the new oak (5% only) lending a little more depth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and a pure, silky-smooth finish. A lovely Mercurey.

En Garnerot, lower slope, red soil with iron oxide. Lively medium deep crimson, tightly knit, cherry stones and fresh raspberry. Most impressive persistence, Carel has a fine touch with this.

This too is firmly reduced and unreadable. The round, supple and easy-going light weight flavors are not especially dense though they do possess a caressing mouthfeel before culminating in a somewhat simple finish. This has just enough structure to suggest 3 to 4 years of development potential may see better depth emerge.
