The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées suffered some millerandage this vintage and produced particularly small bunches. It has a very perfumed, floral bouquet with earthy tannins imparted by the 30% whole-bunch fruit. The fleshy palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a silky texture and a gentle, caressing finish that is utterly charming.

From the village level vineyards of Gevrey Chambertin, this cuvée from Domaine Hubert Lignier delivers classic Côte de Nuits character with perfume, structure and quiet authority. Lignier is renowned for traditional, low intervention winemaking, allowing site and season to speak with clarity. Les Seuvrées sits on limestone and marl soils that give lifted aromatics, fine tannins and a balanced, elegant profile, making it a superb introduction to the domaine’s style and a serious expression of village Gevrey.
The colour is a bright ruby with garnet hues. Aromas are open and inviting, showing red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, followed by rose petal, gentle spice and a touch of forest floor. The palate is medium bodied and finely shaped, with pure red fruit, silky tannins and a vibrant acid line that gives flow and length. There is a savoury undertone and mineral edge that add depth and food friendly appeal.
Excellent with roast chicken, duck, pork, mushroom dishes and herb driven cuisine. Drinking well now with air, it will cellar confidently for eight to twelve years, gaining extra savoury and tertiary nuance.
