It's always interesting to compare the Clos des Hospices bottlings from the two sides of the Moreau family's 1ha holding. This is the less oaky and arguably the more Chablisien of the pair, with plenty of power and intensity, considerable 'tension' as they like to say in the region, some stone fruit sweetness and a racy, refreshing finish. The water-retaining clay soils seem to have helped in the heat of the vintage.

Discreet wood sets off slightly riper but still appealingly fresh aromas of white flower, green fruit and tidal pool nuances that also reflect a whiff of exoticism. The very rich, concentrated and mouthcoating big-bodied flavors are also notably powerful while delivering outstanding length and depth on the balanced finale that is a bit more mineral driven.
Clos des Hospices dans les Clos is a family monopole, property of the Moreau family since 1904, date of its acquisition by Louis’ great-great-grand-father. In the past, this single parcel was enclosed within walls of dry stones and belonged to the monks of Chablis Hospices, hence its name of 'Clos des Hospices'.
Grand Cru Clos des Hospices is located within Les Clos and it produces exceptional wines, displaying great generosity. Its nose is full and expressive, with a nice minerality confirmed by an elegant length in the finish.
