Blending Grenache and Syrah in equal parts, this wine captures the rugged warmth and spice of the Côtes du Brian, a high altitude corner of the Minervois where old vines and rocky soils bring depth and natural balance. Gros & Tollot is known for crafting powerful yet characterful wines that reflect the wild garrigue landscape, with hot days and cool nights building richness while preserving freshness. La 50 50 is a bold, Mediterranean expression that leans into dark fruit, spice and savoury complexity while remaining deeply food friendly.
Deep ruby to inky crimson in colour, the aromas are generous and expressive, showing blackberry, black cherry and plum, layered with liquorice, black pepper, dried herbs and earthy spice. The palate is medium to full bodied, with dense dark fruit, firm but polished tannins and a savoury, garrigue driven edge through the finish.
There is warmth and generosity balanced by structure, making it ideal with slow cooked lamb, grilled sausages, barbecue, rich stews and hearty Mediterranean dishes. Drinking beautifully now for its power and flavour, it will also cellar confidently for seven to ten years, gaining further savoury and earthy nuance.
