2018 Kay Brothers Amery Basket Pressed Grenache, McLaren Vale

Once planted predominantly for use in fortified wines, Grenache is now recognised as one of McLaren Vale's premium varieties. Juicy, soft and beautifully balanced.Grenache has long been held in high regard in McLaren Vale as a versatile variety wonderfully suited to the Vale's coastal climate. A soft, elegant wine that pairs beautifully with food our Grenache is rapidly becoming a firm favourite amongst our supporters.

 Planted on the Eastern facing slope below the winery, our Grenache enjoys a sunny aspect, often tempered by a cooling afternoon breeze. Fermented in the original open top fermenters and basket pressed, the Grenache spends a short time in larger, older French oak barrels.The result is an elegant, juicy Grenache in a bright and expressive style. Gentle tannins and a fleshy palate give a soft and generous mouth feel. This old timer of the Vale is enjoying it's time back in the spot light.
