As the wine name tells us, this is basket pressed. It feels more medium bodied than the alcohol (14.5%) suggests. Slick with satiny tannins, imbued with blueberry and mulberry fruit characters, seasoned with clove and cigar box savoury elements and generally looking a bit claret-like. Ready for drinking and doing cabernet proud in Clare, it's pitched perfectly between all its elements and drinkability is high. Tasted on a cool day in a cool cellar, and it worked like that – don't drink without 10 minutes in the fridge, is the message. A gem.

From the historic Clare Valley, Tim Gramp Cabernet Sauvignon reflects a proud regional legacy and a contemporary focus on vibrant, drinkable reds. The Gramp name is deeply woven into South Australian wine history through its long association with Orlando Wines and Jacob’s Creek, and this label continues that tradition with wines that celebrate site expression and accessibility. In Watervale, cooler conditions, elevated vineyards and red loam over limestone soils allow Cabernet Sauvignon to develop aromatic lift, fine structure and refreshing natural acidity.

A deep ruby crimson fills the glass with youthful brightness. Aromas open with blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum layered with hints of mint leaf, dried herbs and subtle cedar spice. There is a classic Clare Valley signature here, where ripe fruit meets a fresh, savoury edge.

The palate is medium bodied and flowing, delivering juicy cassis and blackberry fruit framed by fine tannins and lively acidity. Gentle notes of cocoa, bay leaf and earth build through the mid palate, leading to a smooth, persistent finish that feels balanced and approachable. Enjoyable now for its vibrancy, this Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to evolve over the next six to eight years as softer, more complex tones emerge.

A natural match for flavourful, comforting dishes, it shines with roast lamb, grilled steaks, hearty pasta bakes or mushroom and lentil pies. Tim Gramp Watervale Cabernet Sauvignon captures the easy confidence of Clare Valley reds, perfect for relaxed dinners, shared tables and moments where good food and conversation come together effortlessly.
