A warm vintage, with the umpteenth drought year consecutively. Yet the reds, overall, are stellar. Real fidelity to place. This could come from nowhere else with the sweet leather, varnish and loamy earth scents of the Hunter. Dark cherry and five-spice, too. The alcohol, sublimated by an overall aura of savouriness. The oak, well handled. The acidity, less so. Good drinking all the same.
