Following Cyril Brun’s first foray into still wines from the region with his 4-village-pack of 2017 Coteaux Champenois Blanc, comes a single village red wine from the grand cru of Ambonnay. Due to the excellent quality of Pinot Noir at harvest, 2019 was chosen as the vintage for this release.
‘Les Champsots’ plot lies in the heart of Ambonnay, a grand cru village on the south side of the Montagne de Reims. The vineyard is naturally conducive to producing red wines and Cyril has decided to take full advantage of its potential with this bottling. The wine is 100% pinot noir aged in old oak barrels for 12 months, with further time in bottle before release.
The bouquet shows aromas of raspberries, minerals, wildflowers and light spice. Silky yet weighty; texture reminiscent of a Chambolle-Musigny. The palate shows notes of red berries, light vanilla, minerals. Very long on the finish.
