2019 Edmeades Zinfandel, Mendocino County

A deep, rich expression of Zinfandel, find notes of over-ripe blueberry and blackberry, black plum jam, mission figs, black cherry compote, chocolate, vanilla, black pepper and a hint toasted wood. The voluptuousness of the fruit is well-met by the course, mouth-coating tannins and elevated alcohol and balanced by a solid acid structure.

Edmeades is pure Mendocino, famous for its limited bottlings from the Mendocino Ridge and the Redwood and Ukiah valleys of Northern California.

Edmeades were the pioneers of Zinfandel in the area, with vines planted back in the 1960s. Along with great single vineyard wines, they release this cracking estate wine, with fruit sourced from a small group of growers, who year after year produce some of regions’s most highly-prized grapes.

Offering plenty of good Zin character, it's bold and intense on the palate with soft tannins and rich flavours of kitchen spices, blackberry ham, cola, chocolate, along with some cedary notes.

Some Syrah and Petite Syrah (Durif) feature in the wine, adding further depth and power.
