Barbera is the most widespread variety in Piedmont. Brothers Alexandria make a balanced round Barbera d'Alba from their vineyards in Verduno town. It is typically fruity and vinous.
Located in a charming XVIII century house boasting a simple yet imposing architecture, just by the historic centre of Verduno town, the winery was founded at the beginning of XIX century. Today the owner Gian Battista together with his wife Flavia, his brother Alessandro and his son Vittore proudly carry on their ancestors' tradition and passion for wine making.
The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is the ultimate Autumn red wine; fragrant, elegant, driving fruit power on the palate featuring classic varietal notes of Morello cherry and blackberries. The mouthfeel is soft and round with a touch of spice.
Hand harvested from 20yr old vines inside the municipality of Verduno. Fermented and macerated in temperature controlled stainless steel and cement tanks. The wine spends a further 5-6 months ageing and fining in stainless steel.
Note: From Verduno fruit sourced from a south facing, limestone vineyrd at 380m.
‘The 2019 Barbera d'Alba is a fabulous every-day wine. Floral aromatics and red berry fruit grace this airy yet flavorful Barbera from Fratelli Alessandria. The 2019 is not a powerhouse, but it is supremely delicious and very easy to like. Drink 2021-2027’
