Organic and biodynamically raised shiraz from the Henschke's Eden Valley property; matured in French and American oak for 18 months. An expressive offering from the low-yielding 2019 vintage that shows the trademark Henschke elegance. Supple blackberry and blueberry fruits with hints of fine spice, crushed herbs, sage, redcurrant, purple florals, cedar and a liminal glimpse of wintergreen in the background. Fine, powdered sandy tannins and lacy acidity a simpatico base for the graceful fruits travel across the palate, finishing long and true.

Deep, dark red -purple colour with a jammy/raspberry/cassis, almost Ribena (DMS?) aspect on the bouquet—which is very Eden Valley regional. It has that suggestion of canned corn or asparagus. In the mouth it’s fruit-sweet, succulent and glossy, with masses of fine tannins and a slippery glycerol feel, finishing with black-peppery tannins. Full-bodied, deep and cellar-worthy. Lots of promise, too 21 FEB 2024 Drink 2024–2036
