The 2019 Morgon unwinds in the glass with notes of sweet berry fruit, plums, spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with lively acids and supple, powdery tannins, it's especially seamless and charming this year. Although Louis Jadot is celebrated for its great Burgundies, Château des Jacques has become one of the finest addresses in Beaujolais. Acquired by the Jadot family in 1996, the estate transformed perceptions of Morgon through meticulous vineyard work, low yielding old vines and Burgundian inspired winemaking, producing Gamay of exceptional depth, structure and longevity.

The vineyards sit on Morgon's famous granite and schist soils, where old vine Gamay develops remarkable concentration while retaining freshness and perfume. Careful vinification and patient oak maturation create a wine that bridges the charm of Beaujolais with the refinement more commonly associated with fine Burgundy.

The colour is a brilliant ruby red with youthful garnet highlights. Aromas of black cherry, wild raspberry and plum mingle with violets, cracked pepper and subtle earthy spice. The palate is beautifully structured, carrying vibrant red and dark berry fruit across fine tannins and lively acidity. Hints of forest floor, crushed stone and savoury spice emerge through a long, elegant finish that reflects the pedigree of this outstanding Morgon.

A magnificent companion to roast duck, herb roasted pork, mushroom bourguignon, grilled quail or a classic Lyonnaise sausage with lentils. Drinking beautifully now, this outstanding Morgon will continue to reward careful cellaring over the next decade.
