Showing medium concentration, the Piazzo Comm. Armando 2019 Barolo Sottocastello di Novello (with 5,000 bottles produced) comes from one of the southernmost vineyards in the appellation, with vines planted on a steep flank that descends from the village of Novello. Given its exposures and the extra luminosity of this site, it produces muscular Nebbiolo wines with marked aromas of red rose, cassis and a dusting of white peppercorn. The wine's texture is dense and rich. This site shows very nicely in a balanced vintage like 2019.
Piazzo Comm. Armando presented a new Alta Langa wine in March 2023 that is dedicated to the winery founder, Armando Piazzo. I have not tasted it yet. The wine is called "Ritorno In" (or "return to" in English) and represents a symbolic return to the family's origins in San Bovo in the village of Castino. We should see how this new Alta Langa project unfolds over the next years.

Crafted from grapes grown along the upper slopes of the Sottocastello di Novello cru located in the village of Novello.
We are at the heart of the Barolo winegrowing area, where the best Nebbiolo grapes are selected for separate vinification in the most promising vintages in order to produce a wine with a long cellar life.
At least six years after the harvest Barolo finally becomes a Reserve, promising unique characters destined to evolve for long years to come
