Very complex, with a kaleidoscopic mix of youthful and maturing aromas, plus an intense tarragon character that doesn’t neatly fit in either of those characters. Quite some chopped-almond richness on the concentrated, medium- to full-bodied palate. However, the most extraordinary thing about this wine is the enormous, stony minerality that washes over you at the extremely long finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Trimbach Riesling Alsace Grand Cru Geisberg is one of the most profound and expressive wines in the Trimbach family’s collection, a true reflection of the exceptional terroir that surrounds Ribeauvillé. The Geisberg vineyard, long recognised as one of Alsace’s finest Grand Crus, sits on steep, south-facing slopes composed of limestone, sandstone, and marl. It is this unique mix of soils, combined with the Trimbach family’s precise, unadorned winemaking, that gives the wine its signature balance of power, minerality, and grace.

The fruit is sourced from old vines rooted deep into the Geisberg hillside, which the Trimbach family has farmed for generations. The grapes are hand harvested at optimal ripeness and gently pressed before fermentation in stainless steel, with no malolactic conversion to preserve purity and tension. The wine then rests on fine lees, developing texture and complexity while maintaining the precision that defines the Trimbach style.

In the glass it gleams pale gold with green reflections. The aroma is intense and layered, offering lime, white peach, quince, and citrus blossom over a foundation of flint, crushed rock, and subtle smokiness. The palate is dry, taut, and deeply mineral, with crystalline fruit precision and driving acidity that carries through to a long, saline finish. There is a quiet power beneath its elegance — a sense of depth and ageworthiness that will unfold over decades.

It pairs beautifully with fine seafood, scallops, lobster, and grilled white fish, as well as more refined dishes such as veal or poultry in light cream sauces. It also shines with Asian cuisine featuring citrus or ginger accents. While already compelling, it will reward cellaring for twenty years or more, evolving into a wine of immense depth and savoury richness.
