The Kientzler family have been part of Alsace's winemaking story since 1699, with the vineyards around Ribeauvillé passing through generations of careful hands. Known internationally for their Grand Cru Rieslings and expressive single vineyard wines, the family have never lost sight of the region's traditional varieties, including the often overlooked but wonderfully versatile Auxerrois.
The Auxerrois K is a modern interpretation of this classic Alsatian grape, showcasing a style that is richer and rounder than Pinot Blanc while retaining freshness and balance. The cooler climate of northern Alsace allows the variety to develop generous fruit flavours without becoming heavy, making it one of the region's hidden gems at the table.
The colour is a bright pale gold with straw highlights. Aromas of ripe pear, yellow apple and white peach rise from the glass alongside hints of acacia blossom, almond meal and fresh cream. The palate is supple and generous, carrying flavours of orchard fruits, citrus and gentle spice across a silky texture. A subtle mineral thread and refreshing acidity keep the wine lively and focused, finishing with impressive purity and length.
Its easy going nature makes it wonderfully versatile with food. Try it with roast chicken and tarragon, creamy seafood pie, grilled prawns with lemon and herbs, pumpkin ravioli with sage butter or a warm onion tart in true Alsatian fashion. Drinking beautifully now and likely to continue developing nicely over the next four to six years.
