Vibrant red with purple hues in the glass. Raspberry, cinnamon spice, and red liquorice aromatics jump from the glass and an herbal edge gives great interest. On the palate Satsuma plum, wild strawberry and fine sandalwood dominate with fine tannins giving the wine exemplary length. The palate shows great intensity and concentration without being heavy or cloying. A wine that shows great poise and balance.
85yo Blewitt Springs bush vines, hand picked. Whole berries and 45% bunches. A single foudre for 10 months. Close to the top of the totem if not already there, this is an address to eyeball. The ascension, defined by textural detail and visceral energy, palpable. Riffs of red cherry, kirsch, Dr. Pepper, clove, orange rind and cranberry. A mineral undercarriage and a briary rasp imbues a herbal bent. Delicious, although I'd like even more tension.
