The Buglioni L’Imperfetto Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a refined yet characterful red from the hills of Valpolicella, crafted by one of the region’s most dynamic modern producers. Buglioni, a family estate founded in 1993, has built a reputation for blending innovation with tradition, producing wines with purity, vibrancy and a contemporary edge. L’Imperfetto, meaning “The Imperfect One,” playfully nods to the estate’s philosophy of embracing personality and individuality in their wines rather than chasing uniformity.
In the glass it is a deep ruby red. The bouquet is expressive and layered, with aromas of cherry, blackberry and plum accented by violet, spice, dried herbs and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with juicy red and black fruits balanced by fine tannins and fresh acidity. Notes of cocoa, liquorice and savoury spice add depth, while the finish is smooth, lingering and gently warming.
Food pairings suit its supple style and savoury balance: tagliatelle with ragù, roasted pork loin, lamb chops with rosemary, or vegetarian dishes such as eggplant parmigiana and mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses like Grana Padano or pecorino. With 6 to 8 years of cellaring potential, L’Imperfetto develops more complexity, gaining notes of dried fruit, tobacco and spice while retaining its fruit core.
