2020 Claymore Black Magic Woman Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Clare Valley

Deep crimson, bright and youthful but with black depths (like my heart).Mint, menthol and blackcurrant all wrapped up in fancy pants subtle French oak – ooh la la! The use of first and second fill sexy French oak barrels may make the bean counters cringe but pays dividends in the glass. Soft, fleshy and full with embracing lingering tannins this is a wine of weight and substance but with balance as it’s middle name. Consider flavours of Christmas cake, cassia bark and soft voluptuous berries melded with subtle hint of cedar from high end oak. A wine that is in its infancy but will develop amazing secondary characters.
