Peach with melon/citrus undertones. A very rich & long palate in the tradition of Eldridge Chardonnay’s. Stone fruit on the finish held together by tight acidity.
Two single site-specific chardonnays were produced in ‘18, a fine vintage for the variety. This, a barrel-fermented blend of two clones, the first of the duo. Beautifully proportioned. Mid-weighted. The nose an effortless meld of white fig, stone fruits and hazelnut, with a whiff of flint conferring gentle tension, rather than shrillness. Generous of flavour and yet far from a lair. The oak, well massaged into the fray. Maker David Lloyd is well versed in Burgundy and it shows. A mellifluous wine of precision and juicy length.
