The syrah comes from the Sexton and Tarraford Vineyards; the carignan and grenache are grown at the Tarraford Vineyard. A combination of whole bunches and whole berries. Bright crimson. A spicy number, redolent of dark cherries and raspberries, together with pink peppercorns, star anise and dried mountain herbs. There's a floral element too. Medium bodied, there's a ripeness and juiciness to the fruit that's balanced by refreshing acidity and fine tannins. It's pretty tasty now, but should continue to improve for at least the next 4–5 years.
