2020 John's Blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Langhorne Creek

A small-batch family business of John and Margarete Glaetzer established in 1974 and based in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, John’s Blend wines are ultra-traditional reds with the Cabernet displaying rich and soft fruit with chocolate and mint flavours, all wrapped in notable oak.

John was mentored by the legendary John Vickery and was Wolf Blass’s right-hand man and the talent behind three Jimmy Watson trophies awarded to their wines from 1974 to 1976, as well as eleven Montgomery trophies for Best Red Wine at the Adelaide Wine Show.

The ownership of this label is today split between John, Margaret and the Gipsie Jack Wine Company, of which they are also partners in with the Potts family. John’s Blend wines continue to be crafted by the now 78-year-old John who seems to have no interest in slowing down.
