2020 Marchand & Burch Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Burgundy

Bourgogne Rouge wines are the still reds produced under the generic Bourgogne appellation. In the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits sub-regions, this surface area is concentrated mostly on the lower slopes of the Côte d'Or escarpment.

The absence of new oak and a shorter élevage escorts the fruit flavours of this vivacious young Pinot Noir to centre stage, where they captivate the senses of smell and taste. Wines from the Bourgogne appellation are designed for unhindered enjoyment in their youth, the tantalising entrance to a rabbit-hole of endless variation and excitement which Burgundy will never stop giving.

Bright red fruits, strawberries and cherries, coasting on lively acidity and fresh, supple fruit tannins easily delight the palate, and pave the way for a soft, smoky finish with an intriguing hint of garrigue and vanilla spice.
