Mature expression of Western Victoria with fruit sourced from Ballarat, Geelong and Henty
60/35/5% Ballarat/Geelong/Henty fruit, each vinified separately. Matured 10 months maturation in barriques and puncheons. This vintage, the percentage of Ballarat fruit nearly doubles on 2019 (35%) and brings with it the superfine Ballarat aromas of tomato leaf, red cherry, cranberry with light florals. Flavour spectrum and intensity deepens and broadens on the palate, but the delivery is firmly delicate and of a cool climate. Drink to 2022.
90 points Jeni Port for Halliday Wine Companion, July 2022
Medium to full red colour with a tinge of purple. Aromas of red cherries and cherry bonbons, the palate light-bodied and finely textured, taut and tense, with attractive pinot fruit and a slightly nervy palate and a firm grip to finish. Drink to 2028.
89 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, March 2022
Provenance was established in the mid-1990s around a simple idea of showcasing cool-climate vineyard sites across western Victoria. Owner and winemaker Sam Vogel works mostly with select vineyards across Henty, Ballarat and Geelong.
