Brought up in foudres and terracotta amphorae, the 2020 Gigondas Clos Derrière Vieille offers a beautiful perfume of rose petals, flowers, strawberries, and that similar passion fruit-like character found in the Aux Lieux-Dits. Translucent ruby-hued, it's medium-bodied, very pretty, and elegant, and should keep for a decade.

The Clos Derrière Vieille (behind the old village hospices) is naturally fenced by woods. Very slow ripening of the grapes: shadowed on the morning, bathed by the sun until sunset. A blend of Grenache 80% , Mourvèdre 10% & Syrah 10% Aged In casks (foudres) and terracotta jars for 18 months.
