Gingin clones planted 1988 on gravelly loam. Five barrels made. Creamy and nutty and exuding aromas of nougat, marzipan and vanilla pod. In the mouth the wine is enveloping and cushioned ... marvellous and plump and beautiful. The acidity, although high (thanks to the clone) is juicy and gives a chewy aspect to the wine which is most welcome. A brilliant first release.

Light, bright yellow hue. Attractive lightly-toasted nut, creamy lees and grapefruit aromas, building some butterscotch as it warmed in the glass, the palate restrained and poised, beautifully balanced and harmonious. A lovely subtle yet intense wine of understated power with a long-lingering carry. 02 AUG 2021 Drink 2021–2030
